Senzo Nzama, winner of the 2018 Speed Wrap Challenge at the FESPA Africa and Sign Africa expos, will represent South Africa at the FESPA World Wrap Masters, taking place at FESPA 2019 in Munich, from 14-17 May.

‘I am so excited and really looking forward to the challenge,’ said Nzama, ‘I have been praying to God for this, and now my dreams have been realised.’ He explained that he gets in a lot of wrapping practice due to the daily wrapping jobs he does at his company. He is hopeful about his chances: ‘I believe I stand a good chance of winning,’ he added.

The World Wrap Masters Europe and Series will take place every day of the FESPA Global Print Expo event, where the world’s best wrappers will showcase their skills to be crowned FESPA World Wrap Master 2019. Including South Africa, the event will see participants from 12 countries, such as the United Kingdom, Japan, Hungary, Italy and Mexico.

The FESPA Global Print Expo will take place between 14-17 May at Messe München in Munich, Germany. The final regional qualifying event, Wrap Masters Europe, will take place on 14 and 15 May, where up to 40 wrappers will compete, wrapping cars and a variety of items in a series of timed competitions, to win the title of European Wrap Master.

Battling it out against the winners of the regional heats at FESPA Africa, FESPA Mexico, FESPA Eurasia, Asia Print Expo and FESPA Brasil, the European Wrap Master and the two runners up will go on to compete in the World Wrap Masters Series Final on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 May. In addition to cars, competitors will be tasked with wrapping other challenging items, which will be announced on the day to add an element of surprise.

The competition, sponsored by Hexis, Mimaki, Wrap Gear and Car Wrapper 3D, will be judged by vehicle wrap experts including: two time world champion, Kiss Lajos of Fixfolia from Hungary; Martina Lorenz of AQASIO Folienverklebung, Germany; Jeremy Conner, Owner of Who Did That!?!, from the USA and Carlos Ruiz, from Spain.

In addition to the Wrap Masters competition, there will be free daily training workshops and demonstrations taking place on the stand at 13:00, hosted by wrap expert and head judge, Lajos.

Topics covered in the workshops will include:

• The future of wrapping.
• Wrap designer, from creativity to technique.
• World Wrap Masters: the Journey.

Lajos commented, ‘I’m really looking forward to the Wrap Masters events in Munich this year. The Wrap Masters Europe competition always features a high level of skill and dedication and I can’t wait to see the winners of the other regional events in the series come together and compete for the title of World Wrap Master 2019. To ensure we keep the competition fresh and exciting year on year, this year will see a new design applied to the vehicles as well as some updates to the tasks we set the contestants in the creative rounds.’
